Airbus to exhibit corporate jet for first time in Shanghai

An Airbus ACJ318, the corporate jet version of the A318 airliner, will be the highlight of the company’s presence at the ABACE show, marking the first time that any of the company’s bizjets is exhibited in Shanghai.
The Airbus ACJ318 on display is operated by Abu Dhabi-based Al Jaber Aviation, which offers it for VVIP charters in a spacious and comfortable arrangement with seating for 19.

“When companies, individuals and governments use corporate jets, such as the Airbus ACJ318, they empower their leaders to accomplish more, helping them to bring home new business, safeguard jobs, and contribute to overall economic growth,” points out Airbus COO, Customers, John Leahy. “With the widest and tallest cabin of any bizjet, Airbus corporate jets can also carry larger groups than traditional business jets,” he adds.
Airbus’ ACJ318 is similar in size externally to traditional large-bizjets, but has a cabin that is about twice as wide, delivering new standards in comfort, space, and freedom of movement.

It features lounge-style seating for passengers in several different zones, as well as an office with ensuite bathroom, which can be converted into a bedroom. The Airbus corporate jet on display at ABACE in Shanghai thus gives potential customers the chance to experience for themselves the best business jet cabin in the world. Airbus corporate jets are derived from the world’s most modern aircraft family, and offer the broadest range of sizes and ranges of any bizjet manufacturer, including VIP widebodies.

They have won some 170 orders since Airbus delivered its first corporate jet in the mid-Eighties, and are the only bizjets flying on every continent, including Antarctica. Airbus corporate jets have a widespread presence in Asia-Pacific, and especially China, which is one of the largest and fastest growing markets for business jets.

Embraer Achieves 300th Phenom Jets Delivery

Melbourne, Florida, USA – Embraer recently delivered the 300th Phenom jet, capping off the latest series of milestones which includes the assembly and first flight of the initial aircraft from the Company’s year-old Melbourne facility in Florida, USA. Embraer recently shifted global operations for its business jets from Brazil to Melbourne, where it is creating 200 engineering and technical jobs in an area hard hit by reductions in the Space Shuttle program.

“With the delivery to a US customer of a Phenom 300 jet, the 300th delivery in the Phenom line, Embraer has achieved a true milestone,” said Robert Knebel, Vice President Sales for North America, Embraer Executive Jets. “The success of the Phenoms can be seen in the diversity of our customers, which include private individuals, corporations, universities, fractional, charter, flying schools and motor racing executives. Fifty percent of the Phenom deliveries have been taken by North American customers, with Latin American operators accounting for another 30%. Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) account for 17%, while Asia accounts for 3% of the market.”

Deliveries have been building since December 2008, when the Phenom 100 entered in service. In 2009, deliveries rose to 98, along with another 126 in 2010. In 2011, there were 83 deliveries.

Since 2000, Embraer has not only entered the dynamic executive jet market, but has also fielded seven different designs, covering the entry level business jet represented by the Phenom100 to the ultra-large executive jet represented by the Lineage 1000. The Phenom jets represented the first clean-sheet designs, an innovation for the light jet segments in the industry, which has suffered from the continuous introduction of derivative products.

The Phenom 100 can accommodate up to eight occupants and has seven different interior options designed in partnership with BMW Group DesignworksUSA. Its range of 1,178 nautical miles (2,182 kilometers), including NBAA IFR fuel reserves, means the aircraft is capable of flying nonstop from New York to Miami, in the U.S.; from London to Rome, in Europe; or from Brisbane to Melbourne, in Australia. The jet has proved to be the fastest, with the largest baggage capacity in the entry level category. It has the latest in cockpit design, and a private aft lavatory is one of its competitive features.

The Phenom 300 reaches 521 mph (839 km/h, or 453 knots - KTAS) and can fly at an altitude of up to 45,000 feet (13,716 meters). Its range of 1,971 nautical miles (3,650 kilometers), including NBAA IFR fuel reserves, means the aircraft is capable of flying nonstop from Zurich to Reykjavik (Iceland), Las Palmas (Gran Canaria, Spain), Moscow (Russia) or Cairo (Egypt).

Bombardier Establishing OEM-Owned Service Centre in Singapore for Business Aircraft

Bombardier’s 10th wholly owned aircraft maintenance facility worldwide and second service center outside of North America.

Bombardier Aerospace today announced that it will open a full-scale company-owned and operated service center in Singapore in 2013. The new service center will form the cornerstone of Bombardier’s comprehensive customer services offering in the Asia-Pacific region and ensure that Bombardier Business
Aircraft customers have even broader access to Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM)-backed service.

The new facility will be the second service center operated by Bombardier outside of North America, bringing the total number to 10 worldwide. It will be capable of performing a variety of light to heavy maintenance tasks on all Bombardier Learjet, Challenger and Global aircraft.

Bombardier’s Singapore Regional Support Office (RSO), opened in late 2011, will work in conjunction with the new service center location as well as the company's current Singapore parts depot. Together with other facilities based in the Asia-Pacific region, Bombardier will create a full-service customer support hub in the region to complement existing regional networks in North America and Europe.

“We want to ensure our customers in the Asia-Pacific region have access to the full range of customer support and services in their own time zone and in their own region. It is a reflection of our commitment to current and future operators that no matter where they fly, they will have access to our OEM-backed support,” said Éric Martel, President, Bombardier Customer Services & Specialized and Amphibious Aircraft.

“By 2030, there could be more than 1,100 business jets in service in the Asia-Pacific region, and we are ready and committed to support our existing and future customers, which we expect will make up a large portion of that fleet,” he added.

Bombardier currently operates 10 dedicated support facilities in the Asia-Pacific region, including five parts depots, as well as RSOs in Tokyo, Japan and Shanghai, China for commercial aircraft; in Singapore and Hong Kong for business aircraft; and in Sydney, Australia for both business and commercial aircraft customers. This network currently supports an installed Bombardier Business Aircraft fleet that had reached a total of 170 aircraft in 2011.

In addition to the Company’s wholly owned service centers, parts depots and regional support offices, Bombardier’s business and commercial aircraft customers have access to a broad network of 56 Authorized Service Facilities and Aircraft-On-Ground Line Maintenance Facilities in 27 countries.

Momentum builds for the new Airbus Corporate Jets business unit

Luxury at its best !

These are exciting times for the recently-created Airbus Corporate Jets business unit, which has a high-profile participation at the 2012 Singapore Airshow. In addition to bringing an ACJ318 for its first-ever appearance at this biennial event, Airbus Corporate Jets is building on new momentum that comes from bringing together the commercial, programme and support activities into a single in-house unit to better serve customers worldwide.

“As a result of this unification, new offices are being opened in key markets around the world, we’re bringing support solutions closer to where the customers’ aircraft are based, and our support staff is being increased in size,” explained François Chazelle, the Vice President of Airbus Corporate Jets.  “In another benefit, my colleagues from programmes are now working closer together on product developments to meet customers’ needs.” Creation of the Airbus Corporate Jets unit was announced last November at the Dubai Airshow, and the organization became effective on 1 January.
